Want to optimise your vaping experience? From tank bands to atty stands, this no-nonsense guide to vape optimisation will explain every major vape accessory on the market. You might want more variety or control, or you might just want vape more sustainably. Whatever your goals, there’s an accessory out there that can help you. We’ll explain what each vape accessory can do, and how it can help you improve your overall vaping experience.
Extra atomisers
The simplest way to optimise your vaping experience is to buy more than one atomiser. If you already own a good box mod, you can keep lots of different flavours on the go at any one time with multiple atomisers. One tank can hold an icy fruity flavour, while another holds an oaky tobacco flavour, and a third is ready to go with something cake-base, for instance. You need to make sure all of your tank heads are compatible with your battery (check for a 510 connection). Ideally, you want all of your e-liquids to have the same VG/PG ratio, unless your box mod has advanced settings that allow you to vape at various wattages.
Tank bands
Tank bands are silicone loops that act like a protective collar for your atomiser tank. Designed to fit snugly around the glass part of an atomiser, tank bands can stop a tank from shattering if it is dropped accidentally. They can also help you get a firm grip if you need to unscrew your tank from your battery after an e-liquid spillage.
Rechargeable batteries
Some vape devices have built-in USB charge points, if your box mod requires batteries, then the most environmentally-friendly thing you can do is buy a battery charger. Battery chargers tend to hold 2 or 4 batteries and plug directly into the wall socket. Some charger models will only work with certain batteries, so make sure your batteries are compatible with the charger you want to buy.
Battery cases
If you travel a lot with your vape, consider getting a battery case. A battery case has separate, spaced-out compartments to reduce the risk of batteries arcing or short-circuiting in transit. Battery cases are the safest way to travel with batteries and they don’t cost the earth. We highly recommend these if you’re an all-day vaper who spends a lot of time out and about.
Pod kit adapters
Pod kits are a great way to start vaping, but for some people they can start to feel a bit wasteful and limited over time. That’s where pod kit adapters come in. A pod kit adapter attaches your pod vape’s connection, effectively giving your pod kit a universal 510 connection. With a pod adapter, you can attach a standard drip atomiser and fill it with whatever vape juice takes your fancy. You get all of the variety of a standard box mod, without losing the familiarity of your favourite pod kit. For safety reasons, you should only ever buy 510 pod adapters that have been approved by the pod kit brand.
Coil building kits
If you want to really fine-tune your vaping experience, then you’ll want a coil building kit. Coil building kits contain everything you need to build your own vape coils, such as tweezers, snippers, coil wire and a coil wire needle to twist the wire around. Coil building is fun, but it’s not a suitable pastime for beginner vapers. You should only use DIY coils on a box mod that allows you full control over the power settings, and you need a solid understanding of Ohm’s Law before you get started. Ideally, you need access to an ohm meter (also known as an ohm reader), so you can measure the precise resistance of your home-made coils and adjust power settings to match.
Ceramic coils
If the thought of a premium coil appeals to you, but the thought of any DIY work fills you with dread, there is another way! Ceramic coils are pre-made premium coils that provide a very high surface area and even temperature distribution for exceptional evaporation. Ceramic coils are typically wire mesh coils coated in a state-of-the-art porous ceramic material. When you fire up your vape, a ceramic coil can evaporate a lot more e-liquid, a lot faster, than a traditional coil. What’s more, because there are fewer hotspots on the coil, burnt hits are much rarer.

Atty stands
A great way to keep multiple atomisers clean and tidy is with an atty stand. Atty stands are simple screw-in bases for e-liquid atomisers. When a tank is not in use, an atty stand keeps your tank perfectly upright and stable, so you get fewer spillages and leaks. They come in lots of different colours and look great on a high shelf.
Tasting notebook
Finally, one of the simplest and cheapest ways to get more out of your vaping experience is to keep tasting notes. You can keep tasting notes in a simple notebook, or on a text file on your phone. Every time you try a new flavour of e-juice, write down what you thought of it. Take a moment to appreciate how it tastes on the inhale and exhale. Over time, tasting notes help you fine-tune your vaping experience by picking brands and flavour combinations that you know you’ll love.
